Biodiversity Survey

A systematic field investigation to document the presence, abundance, distribution, and condition of plant and animal species, habitats, and ecosystems within and adjacent to a proposed or operating mine area. Biodiversity surveys establish baseline data used to assess impacts, design management programs, meet regulatory requirements, and measure rehabilitation effectiveness. Survey methods are tailored to target species and habitat types, and may include botanical transects, fauna trapping, acoustic monitoring, aquatic sampling, and remote sensing analysis.
