Moisture Reduction System

A Moisture Reduction System is the integrated equipment and infrastructure designed to lower the water content of bulk mined material on an industrial scale. Such systems typically combine multiple unit operations, including rotary or flash dryers, vacuum belt filters, thickeners, and air classification units, all coordinated through automated process control. In iron ore operations, moisture reduction systems are commonly installed at port facilities or processing plants to bring fine ore and pellet feed within shipping specifications, reducing the risk of cargo instability during sea transport. Bauxite refineries use moisture reduction systems integrated with calcination circuits to prepare ore for efficient digestion. Gold processing plants may incorporate smaller-scale moisture reduction systems ahead of fine grinding circuits to improve energy efficiency and reduce wear on grinding media. In diamond recovery plants, moisture reduction systems support the dry screening and electronic sorting stages where moisture-sensitive equipment requires consistently dry feed. These systems are engineered considering throughput capacity, energy consumption, heat recovery potential, and environmental compliance, since drying processes can generate emissions and require dust and condensate management infrastructure.
