Mobile Crusher

A mobile crusher is a self-contained, track-mounted or wheel-mounted piece of crushing equipment that can be relocated within a mine site to reduce the particle size of ore or waste rock close to the point of extraction, rather than requiring material to be hauled to a fixed, centrally located crushing plant. Mobile crushers typically integrate a feed hopper, a crushing chamber, often jaw, cone, or impact type, and a discharge conveyor, all mounted on a chassis powered by diesel engines or electric drives. Their principal advantage lies in reducing haul distances and associated trucking costs, since crushed material can be conveyed via in-pit conveyor systems rather than transported long distances by truck, which is particularly valuable in large open-pit bauxite and iron ore operations where pits deepen and expand over time. Mobile crushers can be relocated as mining advances, maintaining short tramming distances throughout the mine's life. In semi-mobile or fully mobile in-pit crushing and conveying systems, mobile crushers are often paired with shovels or excavators that load directly into the crusher, eliminating intermediate truck haulage altogether and yielding significant fuel and emissions savings.
