Crusher Maintenance

Crusher maintenance encompasses the full range of planned and unplanned activities required to sustain the mechanical integrity, safety, and performance of crushing equipment used in mining operations. In bauxite, gold, iron ore, and diamond mining, crusher maintenance is a critical function due to the high wear rates, mechanical stresses, and continuous operating demands placed on crushing equipment. Planned or preventive maintenance includes routine inspections, lubrication, liner wear monitoring and replacement, hydraulic system checks, and structural inspections of frames, drive systems, and bearings. Predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, and oil analysis are increasingly deployed to detect developing failures before they cause unplanned breakdowns. Unplanned or corrective maintenance addresses equipment failures, tramp iron events (where uncrushable material enters the crusher), and hydraulic or mechanical failures. Effective crusher maintenance requires adherence to strict isolation and lock-out/tag-out procedures given the high-energy rotating and reciprocating components involved.
