Cone Crusher

A cone crusher is a robust piece of crushing equipment widely used in mining operations to reduce the size of intermediate and fine ore particles during the comminution (size reduction) process. It consists of a concave outer shell (bowl liner) and an inner crushing head (mantle) mounted on an eccentric shaft that causes the mantle to gyrate, creating a compressive crushing action on the ore fed between the two surfaces. Cone crushers are typically employed as secondary or tertiary crushers following a primary jaw or gyratory crusher. In gold mining, cone crushers prepare ore for ball or SAG mills by reducing material to a size suitable for grinding. In bauxite processing, they are used to break down laterite ore before washing or digestion. Iron ore beneficiation plants rely heavily on cone crushers to achieve the fine particle sizes needed for magnetic separation and pelletising. In diamond mining, cone crushers must be carefully calibrated to avoid fracturing diamonds while still liberating them from host rock.
