Bulk Terminal

A port facility specifically designed for the receiving, storing, handling, and loading of bulk mineral commodities onto bulk carrier vessels. Bulk terminals include berths, ship loaders, conveyor systems, stockyards, reclaim equipment, and dust suppression systems. Terminal throughput capacity, vessel draught capability, and stockyard management determine the export capacity of a mining operation. Major bauxite and iron ore export terminals are critical national infrastructure, with capacity expansions representing major capital investment decisions driven by long-term commodity demand projections.
