Block Model
A three-dimensional geological and resource model comprising a regular array of rectangular blocks, each assigned values for ore grade, density, mineralogy, and other attributes based on geostatistical interpolation from drill hole data. Block models are the fundamental tool for mineral resource and ore reserve estimation, mine planning, and production scheduling in all mining types. In bauxite, iron ore, and gold projects, block models are built and validated by resource geologists and form the technical basis for feasibility studies and investment decisions.
