Bench Sampling

The collection of representative ore or rock samples from mining benches for grade determination, geological characterisation, and reconciliation purposes. Bench samples may be collected from blast holes, face channel sampling, or grab sampling of blasted material. In iron ore and bauxite mining, bench sampling informs grade control decisions and directs material to ore or waste destinations. In gold mining, bench samples guide selective mining and reconciliation between resource models and actual production.
