Bauxite
A naturally occurring, heterogeneous rock composed primarily of aluminium hydroxide minerals including gibbsite, boehmite, and diaspore, along with iron oxides, silica minerals, and trace elements. Bauxite is the world's principal ore of aluminium and is processed through the Bayer process to produce alumina, which is subsequently smelted to produce aluminium metal. Major global deposits occur in Guinea, Australia, Brazil, Jamaica, and Indonesia, typically forming as lateritic residual soils in tropical and subtropical weathering environments.
