Attrition Mill

A grinding device in which particles are reduced in size primarily through particle-on-particle abrasion and friction rather than impact crushing. Attrition mills are used in bauxite and iron ore processing to scrub and disintegrate clay coatings from ore surfaces, liberate fine mineral particles, and break down agglomerates. They operate at lower energy intensity than tumbling mills and are effective for soft, friable materials requiring gentle size reduction.
