ANFO

Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil, a widely used bulk explosive in surface mining operations consisting of prilled ammonium nitrate blended with diesel fuel oil in approximately a 94:6 ratio by weight. ANFO is the predominant blasting agent in open-cut bauxite and iron ore mining due to its low cost, ease of bulk loading, and good energy output. It is water-sensitive and unsuitable for use in wet blast holes without protective measures.
