Access Ramp

A graded inclined roadway constructed within or adjacent to an open pit or underground mine to allow vehicles, equipment, and personnel to move between different elevation levels. In open-cut bauxite and iron ore mines, access ramps follow pit wall geometry and are designed to specified gradients (typically 8–12%) to accommodate haul trucks, light vehicles, and emergency evacuation requirements.
